Lissa Boillot ~ Independent Consultant
My entire life I have been an animal lover. As a child I was deprived of canine company, although we had kitties, and I have been making up for it ever since. As soon as I had a home of my own, the first dog arrived. That was over 30 years ago and there has been no stopping me. Volunteering with shelters and multiple local rescues, I wear many hats, as adoption coordinator, intake director, and foster mommy to name a few. I am happiest with hands on contact. I am proudest of developing a strong network that has allowed me to become an individual rescuer. That one decision has saved the lives of over 30 dogs in the last 7 years! Rescue is my middle name. Being the Vice President of a local group called Favor’s Project, founded in 2012, we collect donations from local businesses and people which allow us to grant “favors” to many rescues and shelters that are in need.
I have lived in Colorado almost my entire life, being a transplant from Pennsylvania when I was 13, and now settled in Centennial with my husband, Shane, and our very energetic son, Aiden. We share our home with a motley crew of rescue pups. Riley, a 7-year-old Pit Bull, Ella a 4-year-old Pit Bull and Mr. Sweeney the wonder weenie, a longhaired Chihuahua, age unknown. Our newest to the pack is Toddle, a spunky little handful that has been shuffled around, home-to-home. She planted her roots deep when she was thrown over our fence. She is a Papillon/Toy Aussie mix. Let me not leave out my precious kitty, Chat-Chat, who has seen me through the last 16 years. He is NEVER quiet, and is very demanding of his feeding schedule, thus his name. We also foster a few times a year, that always adds a new twist to the dynamics in the house, but it’s the most rewarding experience that we share as a family. I believe my son will carry on. He is always on the look out for strays that need some good grub and a couch to crash on.
The past 7 years I have been a stay at home mom and have loved all of those precious times. During that time, I became a Master Animal Acupressure and Massage Therapist, MAAMT and have done some course work in Reiki training. I also hold my certification with the American Red Cross for pet CPR.
I am now ready to follow my heart!! Dogs are creatures of routine and respond to firm discipline and loads of affection. Over the years I have gained a huge knowledge of canine ways that has proved invaluable in dealing with some of my more challenging charges. If it is animal related –I will try and help for I know how important your fur-baby is as a member of your family, and I will love and look after them as dearly as I look after my own.
